About MEC

The Al-Medina Education Center (MEC) in Newark is a diverse, vibrant, and historic mosque community established in 2009. Guided by our motto—“Service of the Creator through the service of His creation”—we are dedicated to uplifting others and giving back as an essential expression of our faith.

We strive to provide meaningful spiritual, educational, and social services to residents of the Bay Area and communities beyond. MEC hosts regular prayers and a wide range of programs for people of all ages and backgrounds throughout the year. Central to our mission is the belief that active participation in and contribution to the greater community is vital. By embodying compassion, service, and unity, we aim to help all individuals pursue a purposeful, principled life while growing together as one local and global community.
