Our Story
Welcome to Al-Medina Education Center, located in the heart of Newark, California! We are a community-based Islamic center that has been serving the local community since 2009. Our mission is to provide a welcoming space for Muslims of all backgrounds to connect with one another and strengthen their faith through daily prayers, educational programs, and community events.
Our journey began in 2009 when a group of passionate individuals came together to establish a center that would cater to the spiritual needs of the Muslim community in Newark and its surrounding areas. Over the years, we have grown into a vibrant community of individuals from diverse backgrounds, all united in our love for Islam.
In 2022, we were able to achieve a major milestone by purchasing a permanent location for our center. This is a significant achievement for us, and we are grateful to our community members who have supported us throughout this journey. We believe that having a permanent location will help us better serve our community and provide a more stable and consistent environment for our activities and events.
At Al-Medina Education Center, we offer a wide range of educational programs, including Quran classes for both children and adults, Islamic studies, and Arabic language classes. Our goal is to provide a space where our community members can learn and grow together in their understanding of Islam.
In addition to our educational programs, we also offer daily prayers, Jummah (Friday prayers), and various community events throughout the year, including Eid celebrations, fundraising dinners, and youth programs. We are committed to creating a space where our community members can come together to worship, learn, and build meaningful relationships with one another.
To further enhance the sense of community within our center, we have launched several programs that cater to the needs and interests of our community members. Our monthly hiking program is one such initiative, where members of our community come together to explore the beautiful outdoors, get some exercise, and connect with one another. We also have a recycling program that promotes environmental sustainability and encourages our community members to do their part in keeping our earth clean.
Furthermore, we offer a range of classes that are designed to meet the diverse interests and needs of our community members. Our Speech Communication classes, for example, focus on improving public speaking skills and building confidence, while our Arabic classes provide an opportunity for individuals to learn the language of the Quran and connect with their heritage. We also offer AV classes that teach skills related to audio and video production, which can be useful for a variety of fields.
As a non-profit organization, we rely on the support of our community to keep our center running. We are always in need of donations, whether big or small, to help us cover the costs of maintaining our center and organizing our events. Your donations will help us continue to serve our community and provide a welcoming space for all.
